UC Davis ERP Boot Camp Application Information
Only 35 participants can be accepted each year, and we usually impose a limit of one participant from a given laboratory per year. Successful applicants are typically graduate students, medical students, postdocs, medical residents/fellows, PhD-level research scientists, or faculty. We do not ordinarily accept individuals who have not yet entered into a PhD program (e.g., undergraduates and BA-level research assistants). We usually receive ~150 applications per year, so we are able to offer admission to only 20-25% of applicants.
Our primary criterion in selecting participants for the boot camp is the likelihood that an individual will go on to conduct and publish important research with the ERP technique. We therefore consider factors such as your prior publication record, your previous training, your mentor's track record of ERP research and training (when relevant), the nature of the questions you plan to address with ERPs, and whether you have easy access to an ERP recording system. We also try to achieve a balance of basic and clinical/translational research interests, and we are committed to racial/ethnic diversity and gender equity.
The UC-Davis ERP Boot Camp provides a deep exploration of ERPs, not a superficial overview. We therefore expect that pre-faculty participants (e.g., graduate students, postdocs) have accumulated at least 1 year of intensive experience with ERPs or related techniques prior to applying; this is a minimum, and most pre-faculty individuals who are accepted into the boot camp have substantially more ERP experience. We are more flexible about the level of experience for faculty-level participants.

Cost and Scholarship Information
Our NIH funding allows us to provide scholarships that cover most or all of the costs (including travel, housing, and a small food allowance). There is no separate application form for scholarships. All U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents who are accepted into the boot camp automatically receive scholarships. For the 2017 Boot Camp, we will also able to provide scholarships for a small number of international participants. We typically accept 30 U.S. citizens and permanent residents, along with 5 international participants.

There is also a shuttle bus between Davis and the San Francisco airport.
Please note that there will be no 10-day ERP Boot Camp in 2018, although we hope to resume offering the workshop in 2019.
